About me

Maayan Rimmer | Photographer & Designer

Ever since I remember I always had the curiosity to explore the world. When I was a child my father used to adjust the setting in his film camera and I would click the shutter. Even though photography has been a huge part of my life, I chose to study my bachelor in Visual Communication in HIT in Israel, with a semester in Dusseldorf, Germany. Today I use the skills and knowledge to upgrade the way of thinking when it comes to visual concepts.

Telling a story | clicking the shutter is the easiest part

My work begins way before I take the photo and ends only after I finish sorting out, choosing and editing the best ones. I believe that the best work emerges from a good connection between the two sides of the camera, therefore it's important that you feel comfortable in front of the camera, be yourself.

Why I do what I do | making the world more empathic

In the last year of my Visual Communication studies, I created a final project called "Keep Training" that shows what Israeli female athletes face from an early age, an issue that was very close to my heart as I was a basketball player for many years. The project exposed prejudices that were kept quiet until then and made a buzz in social media. It was broadcasted on several channels in Israeli TV shortly after it was published and continue living online even years later. This project made me realize that sport photography is a niche I want to be a part of, and that good visuals and concepts can have a great impact these days.
